Description Of Project
Bar and Family room
This tropical themed bar and game room was created to accommodate the needs of an outgoing Southern California family with 2 active teenagers. The desire of the owners was to create a space in which the entire family, as well as friends could come and have a place to enjoy and unwind together. The space also had to incorporate zones that could be used independently or together, and in some cases without interfering or disrupting other activities.
Zones for a pool table, homework and computer station, bar and food service, television and media, and out door / indoor entertaining were all incorporated in this 24’ x 30’ addition area. The pool table included custom built cabinetry to house equipment and board games, in a cherry wood with exotic ebony inserts to tie in with the stylization of the bar. The bar, created with matching millwork materials, also included accents of its own in addition to the functional refrigeration, sink, DW and microwave accommodations. “X” styled mullion doors with seedy glass inserts, a stunning glass and stone back splash, green peace granite counters, and modern decorative hanging pendants polish off the theme.
Encasing, and easing the sense of space for the entire room is the custom coffered ceiling above. Composed of cherry millwork, and island styled connection rosettes, each coffered recess area was lined with woven wood panels, finished to coordinate with all the other millwork in the space. The final detail by the contractor and the homeowner was the implementation of sliding French doors, allowing the entire family room to open to the loggia and ocean views beyond.
