Description Of Project

The melding of modern and classic design was our inspiration for this room. The black and white marble floor sets a dramatic tone harmonizing with the marble counter tops. The use of symmetry is evident in the pearl white cabinetry contrasting the very different traditional Wedding Armoire, which surprisingly encapsulates the refrigerator and freezer including a wine column for your favorite selections. The conveniences are numerous with necessary cooking storage and niches beside the range. The green tile softens the room and the elegant touch of unique crystal lighting completes this tribute to the melding of contradictory design elements. Why choose a particular theme if you can choose to have it all.

Project Overview: This room began as an outdoor patio without windows or doors. It was used as a storage area for the garages. Although this kitchen was designed, manufactured, and constructed in less than 4 weeks for Showcase, the normal time is approximately 12 weeks. Because it was an exterior room, there were several design challenges.

  • There are exposed concrete stem walls surrounding the perimeter of the floor.
  • The original electrical panel for the home still remains in the back wall.
  • There were no doors or windows.
Here is how we met those challenges. The openings were closed with wood casement windows and double doors and stained in a vintage glaze. To compensate for the stem wall curb, Phill used cantilevered cabinets and designed the cook top niche creating the new cooking area which, as you may agree, has become the focal point of the room. The challenge to hide the electrical closet was solved by designing the book case in front of it. To access the electrical panel, you simply swing out the cabinets on hinges. The beautiful open cabinets bring an element of "living" space into this updated kitchen.
