Description Of Project
We faced only minor challenges planning this project. For one, the client did not want to change their beautiful marble flooring so we successfully removed their old cabinets and replaced them with new cabinetry without damaging their existing flooring.
The clients did not want the microwave located in the island where they would have to bend down and also did not want to lose the double oven, so we chose to locate the microwave over the cooktop and covert the previous microwave cabinet area into an additional pantry with full rollouts creating an entire wall of full depth cabinets with the refrigerator and wall oven cabinet.
The clients wanted a bar area to sit at while food was being prepared, so we created a raised height bar area at the end of the new island which they love. For the entire time they have owned the house, they have been bothered by the small island and not enough counter space to work on, so the island was the main focus of improvement in this kitchen. Additionally we added a cabinet to the left side of the dishwasher for more countertop space and more importantly for a cabinet for them to locate their newspapers, pencils and mail which previously had no home in the kitchen.
The location of the sink relative to the corner and window made it impossible to put in a Lazy Susan in the corner so we added a ½ moon to the corner cabinet and lots of rollouts in the kitchen.
In the bar area adjacent to the kitchen, we removed a small unused sink and center base cabinet replacing it with a dual drawer wine refrigerator.
The clients are very happy with the results of the remodel! |
