Description Of Project
My New York clients decided to make their California summer home a permanent residence. It was now necessary to have the Master Bath meet the standards and style they enjoyed in their previous home. The bath was an 80’s vintage with too small of a shower, an over sized toilet area and steps to a tub that didn’t feel safe. The white washed cabinetry had to go. The huge vaulted ceiling over powered the space. The clients had reached a stage in life where safety was a priority. They needed non slip surfaces, great lighting, a seat in the shower and grab bars. Aesthetically they wanted a soothing retreat with soft tones and an elegant feel.
The bath was reconfigured by moving the toilet out of its closet and utilizing the toilet space to create a large shower with a seat and multiple shower heads. A hand held shower by the seat allowed them to sit and shower. The existing tub was too small so a large corner tub was installed with a beautiful Statuary Marble deck. Grab bars were installed in both wet areas. The cabinetry was crafted with two radius sink fronts in a dark cherry finish. Statuary marble slab encase the gorgeous Kallista sinks and lavatory faucets. Over each sink are installed built in medicine cabinets with interior outlets and beveled glass sconces adding critical lighting. Additional lighting was installed in the beautifully crafted tray ceiling cove and with recessed down lights through out. The flooring is Statuary marble rectangles laid in an offset pattern and honed so as not to be slippery. The walls of the shower and wainscoting are a soft French blue subway tile topped with a complimentary glass and marble mosaics. My clients finally feel at home in this beautiful space.
