Description Of Project

Nancy Kelly has been a long time customer and when she asked me to create a working office in one of her bedrooms I knew I had to do something that would not only be pleasing to the eye but was extremely functional for her. Nancy loves to take pictures and she prints out quite a bit of her work. With all the photos lying around she couldn’t find things very easily. I had to create a space that would help organize her hobby. The room is very small so when designing the office I had to allow for her to freely and effortlessly move around from station to station. The first and most important area to create was the actual spot she would be sitting at. There had to be a computer, phone, easy access to photo storage, paper and supply storage and she wanted to be able to watch TV from that position. By using cabinetry that was open Nancy is able to quickly add new paper to her printer and store photos in open cubbies for later usage. We incorporated surround sound wiring, cable TV and Ethernet cables into the walls during the remodel. A wall to wall cork board was applied above the main desk to allow for pinning items. We made the desk “T” shaped to give as much desk top space as possible and still allow 42” of walk around space. Two file drawers, more cubbies and general storage and standing level counter where added across the room. The counter and desk top are Wilsonart laminate, cabinets and lighting are KraftMaid. Instead of a hard surface on the floor we used a short loop carpet on the floor for sound absorption and slip resistance as well as cushion for her feet. Nancy loves her new office and will be able to enjoy it in comfort for years to come.
